Elyse Dishler, M.D.

Dr. Elyse Dishler became a Family Doctor in 2000 and is double board-certified in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She is an active member of both the American Academy of Family Physicians and The Obesity Medicine Association.

Dr. Dishler joined a private family practice in the year 2000 and was already well aware of the medical impact of weight gain and obesity on a patient’s health. Carrying excess weight puts an individual at risk for many avoidable medical conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, elevated cholesterol and metabolic syndrome, sleep apnea, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, heart disease, and various forms of cancer. Sadly many of the patients she saw struggled with these ailments, and the ailments were already negatively impacting her patients’ quality of life.

Over the years, Dr. Dishler knew she wanted to do more. She became increasingly knowledgeable and passionate about helping patients make the necessary lifestyle changes for optimum health. She has trained intensively in the field of Obesity Medicine to offer personalized weight loss programs that are not only achievable but also provide sustained results.

In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Dishler loves spending time with her husband and three children, staying active with CrossFit training, learning to play tennis, reading, and cooking.

One of her main goals in addition to helping patients find improved health is to educate people, including the medical community, about obesity which is often misconstrued as a fault and not a medical condition. Her core value is to treat people with respect and compassion. She looks forward to doing just that and forming lasting partnerships that lead to success with each and every patient.

The goal is to help patients find improved health and a healthier weight by treating any weight-related issues and helping to create lifestyle changes that promote sustainable weight loss.

There are no quick fixes. Getting to a healthy weight takes a holistic approach that is unique to each patient. Dr. Dishler is here to help you meet your goals without struggling. Improved health and weight loss do not have to be difficult.

An important goal for each patient is to do more than just lose weight; it is to MAINTAIN weight loss long-term and to make lifestyle changes that are sustainable for improved health.

Losing just 5% of body weight will significantly reduce a patient’s risk of many diseases, such as high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, fatty liver diseases (currently the most common cause of cirrhosis in the US), type 2 diabetes, arthritis of the knees, hips and hands, heart disease and many forms of cancer.
